They certainly are nuts Dagney, imposters of the real thing.
They have done their worst - our closest friends, bar one or two have decided they want nothing to do with us and Besty's family (mine are being loyal to flesh and blood over and above this man-made organisation, luckily for me). Pubsinger once said to me, "if you can get out with only a few family relationships in tact, it's a huge bonus". I tend to agree.
So, disfellowshipping won't really make any difference to us at this stage (even though I really would rather not have that label. I am still baffled how they can feel that by treating you 'like a posionous snake' (Watchtower 1951) all the while telling you 'it's because they love you', you will want to come back???!!!!! I wouldn't want to come back to that unconditional love (not to mention the false doctrine/promises, hypocrisy, mentally/physically/emotionally crippling routine) for all the whiskey in Scotland!
However, how can they have the audacity or right to DF us when the whole basis for 'apostacy' in the bible was if you were turning people away from Christ and teaching the resurrection hadn't happened?
And where in the Bible does it say you can't attend a church and worship Jesus/God?
And where in the Bible does it say that you can't make a stand for truth? (I actually had a sister say to me "you can't tell people the truth about the truth because you would wreck people's faith and we wouldn't have a united brotherhood...) So a faith based on lies - how wonderful!
They need their heads examined. Poor twits.
Little do they realise that if they do DF us there will be no reason to keep quiet and I will be on a mission to contact everyone and tell them what really is behind the curtain.
Bring it on.

What's your name for 'Watchtower Speak'?
by sweet pea inhaving put some distance in between us and the wts, i can't read any of the society's publications without feeling extremely uncomfortable and irritated by the tone and language that the society uses.
it all sounds the same - patronising, guilt-inducing, condescending, intellectually unchallenging, etc.
as far as i'm aware the term is 'watchtower speak'.

I did it! and it's your fault
by Hortensia ini went to the grocery store today - no that's not your fault.. it's 103 degrees today, not bad.
there were three people sitting in the shade in front of the grocery store.
there was a middle aged woman, an older man in a wheelchair, and a thin man whose frozen smile screams "elder.

How Much and for How Long Did You Love Being In The 'Truth'?
by sweet pea inreading tijkmoo's original post about his experience (well worth a read all you newbies...) it made me think back to my experience of being a witness.
up until 4 months ago i had spent my whole life loving being a witness (apart from twinges of discontent when a young girl being left out of attending friends birthday parties) and was a faithful sister who pioneered when possible and was a member of the quickbuild team in my single days.
i felt it was the truth and there was no where else to go.

Stealth - gee, I wish I'd left when I was 25! Wouldn't have made those friendships that I am craving right now.
Crumpet - just goes to show what a mixed bag we all are here - I wish I could wave my magic wand and make it a better memory for you.
Ninja - are you feeling ok? That post was almost serious!
Coaster - I love your picture - Young frankenstein - a great film - it reminds me of a couple of our best friends who are still 'prisoners'. I found out about the mediator issue, then the UN and the child abuse scandal and then it all just unravelled very quickly. I don't remember the intervals at the meetings but fondly look back on the get togethers (weddings, barndances in village halls, assemblies at Camber Sands holiday camp, happy days young and carefree). -

I felt part of a special people that could be found nowhere else in the world - a true brotherhood - and had no doubts at all. I knew that others were critical of the society and it would upset me when 'brothers and sisters' were negative. I was aware that certain controversial teachings bothered the few, 607 for example, and disagreed with certain teachings myself (how to treat disfellowshipped ones etc) but always attributed this to human imperfection and it never stopped me believing it was the truth.
My mil is of the opinion that I had issues long before 4 months ago and that I have wanted to leave for a long time but this is simply not true, I was not looking for an excuse to leave - I sincerely thought I was doing the right thing until I stumbled across all the evidence that pointed out that all was not what it had appeared to be. When I found out the truth about the truth, my conscience couldn't ignore it and I went cold turkey with the meetings.
How about you? How long did you love and believe it was the truth for? -

We are we almost all black now? Especially CO's.
by coaster infor the past couple of years at my district conventions, i have been unable to actually listen to most of it, so my mind is in many places.
one such place was to count people in several of the other sections as to blacks and whites.
section 132..42 white and 137 black, section 133..36 white and 144 black, and so on.

I don't feel that this topic is offensive although the very nature of mentioning blacks v whites is ALWAYS going to make some people feel uncomfortable/offended.
I don't think Coaster has any bad or motives or racist tendencies, he is just making an observation, just the same as if he had noticed that were more 17 year old or 96 year olds in the congregations or more women than men. We are all equal as human beings regardless or race, gender, age, education, income, etc.
It is interesting though to note how an organisation/religion is made up and what types of human beings it attracts - market research does this all the time with everything.
In our congregation, the majority of publishers are black and indeed the whole circuit is as well, it's a London thing. Plus blacks seem to have larger families which obviously affects the ratios. Just my observation, hopefully I have not stereotyped or offended anyone here, if I have, my sincere apologies. -

Heebie Jeebies over FDSC, and how to make your elders eyes glaze over.
by coaster infor a few years now i have been getting a weird feeling with the oh-so-frequent use of term faithful and discreet slave, and some times class added.
i mention the added part cause we always say "is the word trinity found in the bible?
" nope, and neither is the phrase fdsc.

Thanks for the clarification on the 'class' facts Coaster, how could I have been so dumb?
Off course it's a class and not an individual now Russell and Rutherford are gone and they all want a piece of the action.
It bugs me no end that those other parables are treated as such and yet this one is the basis of the whole JW religion and is really a prophecy - Jesus was hiding this fact at the time though! Naughty Jesus.
It is arrogant, presumptuous and blasphemous, to say the least. -
